I love a good old fashioned tale of cursed movie sets. The Omen, Rosemary’s Baby, and of course Poltergeist are well known for having unexplained mishaps befall the cast and the crew. Coincidence or not, “The Following”‘s Kyle Catlett ain’t ‘fraid of no ghosts.
Variety is reporting that Catlett (pictured) will be starring opposite Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt in MGM and Fox 2000’s reboot of the classic 80s horror flick Poltergeist.
The story follows the Bowen family, whose life is suddenly disrupted after a supernatural force takes over their home and begins terrorizing them. Catlett will play one of the Bowen children.
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM), a division of MGM Holdings Inc., has partnered with Fox 2000 Pictures, a division of Twentieth Century Fox, to co-finance and distribute Poltergeist.
Gil Kenan (Monster House) directs from a screenplay by Pulitzer Prize-winning writer David Lindsay-Abaire (Oz: The Great and Powerful). The film is produced by Sam Raimi (Evil Dead) and Rob Tapert (The Possession) via Ghost House Pictures along with Roy Lee (The Strangers). Nathan Kahane (The Grudge) serves as executive producer.
In a revisionist take on the classic horror film, a family struggling to make ends meet relocates to an outdated suburban home and is confronted by an angry spirit who kidnaps their youngest daughter and challenges them to band together to rescue her from the clutches of evil.
