No million-dollar budgets or factory productions. This is the space for the little guy with not but a developer toolkit and a dream. So if you’re down to roll the dice on something different, then stick around and check it out!
Today’s daily dose is not exactly a horror experience. But this is so cool we have to share it. Yarntown is a game by itch.io developer Max Mraz. Created in the form of The Legend of Zelda, it’s an incredible deconstruction of probably the best Souls game. At long last, we have our PC port of Bloodborne.
Yarntown is a recreation of the first area of Bloodborne, Central Yharnam. Of course, some creative liberties had to be taken. Overall, however, this is an extremely close recreation that any fan of the game will recognize, even from a top-down angle.
The Bloodborne to Legend of Zelda format works surprisingly well. The combat is still tough and each confrontation with an enemy must be handled with care. Minus the trick weapons, all the mechanics you remember are there. Stamina, blood vials, even parries using the gun are possible in Yarntown.
Yarntown is free, and you can try it for yourself here. Eagerly awaiting a Pokemon-style game for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice in the same style.
