The #1 Show on Netflix is a “Devastating” Documentary Series Exposing Corruption and Assault
This terrifying Netflix docuseries still has the internet in a chokehold this week. Viewers are understandably upset after looking through a window into police incompetency in this shockingly true story. American Nightmare is the #1 Netflix series across the globe, as new viewers are still discovering this horrific story.
In the series,
“After a home invasion and abduction, a young couple’s recounting of the events is too far-fetched for the police to believe. Why did the victims seem so calm? Was it all a hoax? From the filmmakers behind The Tinder Swindler, this three-part docuseries unravels the consequences of our cultural rush to judgment, and the damage done when law enforcement decides the truth can’t possibly be true.”

Tons of viewers are rightfully outraged after learning what the Vallejo PD put this traumatized couple through. However, many more are pointing out that this is just another glaring reminder of how police routinely fail sexual assault survivors.

Perhaps one of the most upsetting parts of this blatant failure of the justice system is that the survivors are still dealing with the fallout nine years later. Denise Huskins and Aaron Quinn have also had to start processing that the detectives in charge of their case might never be held accountable for their actions.
American Nightmare is directed by Felicity Morris and Bernadette Higgins. The docuseries landed on the streamer on January 17th and has held the number-one spot ever since. All three parts of the limited series are available to stream on Netflix.
Let me know if American Nightmare is as infuriating as it sounds at @misssharai. It sounds like a Netflix series that will raise my blood pressure and make me want to throw something at my TV.
