Josh Brolin Unboxed in New Oldboy Stills; Park Chan-wook Weighs in on Remake

A couple of tidbits have come in regarding Spike Lee’s remake of the now classic Korean tale of revenge Oldboy, which hits theatres Wednesday, November 27th. On tap right now are new stills and more! Dig it!
In a recent chat on Reddit with Spike Lee, Lee revealed that star Josh Brolin reached out to Park Chan-wook for his blessing to remake his film. According to Lee, Chan-wook’s response was the following:
“He told Josh, ‘You and Spike make your own film; don’t remake ours.’ And that’s what we did.”
Starring Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, and Sharlto Copley, Oldboy was directed by Spike Lee from a script by Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend, The Cell, Thor). The film was produced by Roy Lee, Doug Davison, and Nathan Kahane.
Synopsis
Oldboy is a provocative, visceral thriller that follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment.
