The Black and White (and Sometimes Red) of BetrayerIt’s 1604 and you find yourself on the shore of the New World (Virginia, to be exact), expecting to join an English colony with a few problems… namely mystery, scary ghosts and a land that’s literally black and white.

Welcome to Betrayer.

In Betrayer, you’ll learn to build a massive weapons arsenal (muskets, crossbows, throwing axes), find treasure and search for survivors while unravelling the mysteries of the colony, namely “who the hell is the woman in red who swoops in to help from a distance?”

Created and self-funded by Blackpowder Games (founded by ex-Monolith developers, who brought us No One Lives Forever and F.E.A.R.), Betrayer is the first title out the gate for this new studio and Creative Director Craig Hubbard’s pretty stoked by it all.

We wanted to get back to crafting games more intuitively. There’s a sense of discovery and excitement when you navigate by instinct rather than market research and open yourself up to opportunities that arise during development.

Luckily, you PC gamers won’t have long to wait for Betrayer; it’s set to release this month as a Steam Early Access title.

If you wanna see more, hit the official Blackpowder Games website.
