Creator of ‘Chucky’ Teases Possible ‘M3GAN’ Crossover: “You know what happens when Chucky gets angry”
Horror nerds are serious when it comes to our beloved murder doll. Chucky has been a staple in the community since before many of us were even born. This is why when M3GAN appeared on the scene, we wondered how our friend to the end would receive this news. After all, Universal already had our Good Guys Doll as the king of deadly toys. Could the studio handle another? Because both social media teams are some of the funniest in the business, we had Twitter interactions that delighted fans and gave us a sliver of joy.

However, each time the properties acknowledged each other online, it led many of us to want more. While Charles Lee Ray is a perfect sweet, Damballa baby, he does live in a world where almost anything goes. Many of us lost sleep wondering if there could be room for Akela Cooper’s new stylish and AI-fueled killer doll.
While we have a history of crossovers we wish never happened, it could be different this time, right? Both Cooper and Don Mancini know what their fans want and never miss when they get to lead their projects. After over a year of speculation, Mancini finally commented on the plausibility of this terror toy showdown.
In a recent interview discussing the most recent season of Chucky, Mancini was noncommittal but also fueled enough of the fire in our cold little hearts to keep hope alive. While discussing Charles Lee Ray having to deal with his mortality this season, the conversation led to Chucky figuring out his place in a new world filled with popular killer toys like M3GAN and Annabelle.
“He has to deal with that place for himself in the pop culture world, and that’s how we really touch the ground with Chucky,” says Mancini, who has been making Child’s Play and Chucky films and TV for 35 years, ”We give this off-the-wall character a crisis that has the sting of real pain and real life. But it just makes him angrier, and you know what happens when Chucky gets angry.” – Coming Soon via Variety

When further pressed about it Mancini replied, “I would say, stay tuned.” So, we probably shouldn’t get our hopes up that this wish might come to fruition when the rest of season 3 airs next year. However, we should feel a little giddy that this hasn’t been ruled out and could be coming sooner than we think.
The first half of Chucky season 3 recently aired on SYFY, USA, and Peacock. The remaining episodes are expected to premiere sometime next year.
