Halloween season is in full swing, and that means horror is making its mark on the streaming charts. Over on Prime Video, the slasher comedy Totally Killer has claimed the number three spot on the streamer’s global charts.

The picture is being described by some fans as “Scream meets Back to the Future.” And I would say that’s a pretty fair comparison. For more of my thoughts on the film, you can scope my 3.5-star review right here.

One element of the feature that fans are connecting with is the performances from the film’s impressive cast. Prime Video subscribers have praised both Kiernan Shipka, who plays the lead character Jamie, and Julie Bowen, who stars as Jamie’s mother.

Other cast members include Olivia Holt, Charlie Gillespie, Lochlyn Munro, Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson, and Liana Liberato.

The Prime Video original is directed by Nahnatchka Khan. The screenplay was penned by David Matalon, Sasha Perl-Raver, and Jen D’Angelo.

The flick follows 17-year-old Jamie (Kiernan Shipka), who travels back in time and attempts to thwart a series of grisly murders that happened more than 30 years prior at the hands of the Sweet Sixteen Killer. Jamie must navigate the past without interfering with her future and ultimately find a way to get back to the present.

The film made its debut on Prime Video October 6th and has been met with mostly positive reviews from viewers and critics in the days since its premiere. In fact, the flick has already been ‘certified fresh’ on popular aggregate film review site Rotten Tomatoes.
