Netflix Unleashes Wild New Horror Series For October: “A sick and gory romp that gets right to the chase”
Mike Flanagan’s The Fall of the House of Usher hits Netflix today, and fans and critics alike are pumped. And it’s not hard to see why. The master of modern horror has wowed audiences with films like Doctor Sleep, Hush, and Oculus. And his television credits include celebrated offerings like The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass. So, of course, we are stoked to check out Flanagan’s latest offering.
In fact, some Flanagan enthusiasts were even counting down the hours in anticipation of the premiere. Others were celebrating the good fortune we have to see The Fall of the House of Usher, a new season of Creepshow, and Goosebumps, all releasing this week! Quite the lineup, indeed.
The casting roster includes several frequent Flanagan collaborators as well as a handful of new faces. Among those appearing in the series are Carla Gugino (Gerald’s Game), Bruce Greenwood (Gerald’s Game), Mary McDonnell (Scream 4), Henry Thomas (Cloak & Dagger), and Kate Siegel (Hush).
Plot synopsis via Rotten Tomatoes: “Siblings Roderick and Madeline Usher have built a pharmaceutical company into an empire of wealth, privilege, and power; however, secrets come to light when the heirs to the Usher dynasty start dying.”
See what fans have to say about the new series in the reactions below.
In advance of the program’s premiere, the series’ Rotten Tomatoes approval rating sits at an impressive 93%. But that’s no great surprise, considering Flanagan has quite an impressive track record. Hell, he came out of the gate swinging. I’ve been a fan since his early career effort, Absentia. Though it was made on a shoestring budget, the picture showed tremendous promise.
