In 2008, Bryan Bertino’s The Strangers rocked so many of our worlds with his bleak take on home invasion horror. He changed the genre with just one line: “Because you were home”. Now, director Renny Harlin is taking on the terrifying masked invaders with a new trilogy from Lionsgate, set to come out next year. Details have been kept under wraps, but today, we got our first look at the new film.

From master director Renny Harlin (Cliffhanger, Die Hard 2 comes a new trilogy of terror. In Chapter I, Madelaine Petsch (TV’s Riverdale) stars as a young woman starting a new life with her fiancé. Suddenly, during a road trip stop in a remote vacation rental in the woods, they become the prey of a mysterious gang of masked strangers who attack without warning or reason. What begins as a fight to stay alive becomes one woman’s journey of courage and cunning in this horror series bridging three compelling films.

Next week, Harlin and producer Courtney Solomon take the stage at New York Comic Con to share more about the upcoming film. Could we be getting a trailer? A release date? Even more? All we know is that we simply can’t wait! Their panel takes place on Thursday, October 12 at 3 PM ET.

The first time in The Strangers Trilogy is set to hit theaters sometime in 2024.
