‘The Elderly’ Trailer: This Ain’t Your Grandma’s Horror Movie

Spanish directors Raúl Cerezo and Fernando González Gómez are taking the horror world by storm, first with their body horror tale The Passenger, and now with their latest unsettling film The Elderly. Instead of body horror, The Elderly is a terrifying look at a city’s elderly population going, to put it bluntly, feral.

Following the sudden suicide of his wife, Manuel begins acting violently strange. Soon a series of paranormal events has all of the local elderly behaving oddly. They all seem to know something the young do not—paired with a lust for blood.

In her review of the film from the 2022 Fantastic Fest, Dread Central’s Sharai Bohannon said, “The Elderly is a disturbingly deadly chaotic ride. Whenever you think it has outdone itself, it goes bigger in its quest to leave you unsettled and terrified.”

Cerezo wrote the film with Javier Trigales and Rubén Sánchez. Trigos Zorion Eguileor, Gustavo Salmerón, Paula Gallego, Irene Anula, Juan Acedo, and Ángela Gamonal star.

The Elderly comes to select theaters on October 13, 2023, and to VOD and Blu-ray on October 31, 2023, from Dark Star Pictures.
