Le Femme Noir Serves Gothic Fashion With New ‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula’ Collection
The 1992 horny horror classic Bram Stoker’s Dracula is iconic for so many reasons, but one of the top reasons is its sumptuous costume by Eiko Ishioka. Now, Los Angeles-based apparel company and high-end Gothic fashion house, Le Femme Noir created a new fashion line inspired by the film and Ishioka’s work. This is an official collaboration with Sony Pictures Consumer Products for the Fall/Winter 2023-2024 Apparel and Accessories Collection.
La Femme en Noir co-owner and designer Micheline Pitt said about the collection:
“Bram Stoker‘s Dracula is truly a dream collaboration for me, I still remember seeing the film at a local movie theater for my birthday when I was a kid. It had such a huge impact on me. The costumes, the elaborate set pieces, the incredibly beautiful yet horrifying practical effects, I was nothing short of mesmerized. Being Romanian I have had a long obsession with vampires, especially the story of Dracula, so getting to design a collection that is so entwined in my heritage is a unique and rare opportunity.
I love that both myself and my business partner, Lynh Haaga can celebrate elements of our cultures that were so beautifully woven into the costumes of this film. We hope that others who grew up loving this dark romance as much as we did will enjoy all the pieces we have thoughtfully put together for this collection. It is really unique with a very specific style that is unlike anything done before.”
La Femme en Noir co-owner and designer Lynh Haaga added:
“Micheline and I were asked a few years ago by Rue Morgue Magazine ‘What would be our dream studio collaboration?’ We didn’t hesitate to say in unison, 1992’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula! The film’s amplification of character through costume is brilliant. We felt this movie was a perfect project for us considering Micheline’s Romanian heritage and my East Asian culture. We are excited to showcase our interpretation and hope we’ve created a unique collection with deference to the source material.”
The collection includes clothes inspired by Dracula’s muscle-like battle armor, a bustier gown inspired by Lucy, a silk red dress inspired by Mina, and a line of shirts and sweatshirts.
