Stephen King Shares Surprising Praise For This Iconic Hip-Hop Biopic

Horror author, and serial TV binger, Stephen King might have let his fans in on some of the music he listens to. Earlier this week, a clip from an Ed Sheeran show started making the rounds on Twitter. @ComplexMusic shared his cover of “Lose Yourself” which included a guest appearance from none other than the rapper Eminem himself.

Stephen retweeted another fan’s post and wrote, “F****** great.” The scribe was very direct about his feelings on this pop cultural moment, and we are all screaming.

Because Sheeran was performing in Detroit, which is the place Marshall Mathers calls home, it felt right to collaborate with the guy who wrote the song. The song was for his movie 8 Mile, which contains autobiographical elements from Eminem’s life.

“Lose Yourself” was the breakout anthem of the film. It has also gone on to carve out a place in pop culture and is arguably Slim Shady’s most well-known song.

For the uninitiated, 8 Mile followed a struggling Detroit rapper named Jimmy. The movie was directed by Curtis Hanson and written by Scott Silver. It starred Eminem, Kim Basinger, Mekhi Phifer, and the late Brittany Murphy.

This tweet is also blowing my mind because the song mentions Salem’s Lot, which is the title of the classic Stephen King novel that has been adapted for the screen a few times. It’s so cute to know that these two celebrities “stan” each other.

Are you as surprised as I am that Stephen King is a fan of Eminem? Do you think he has a whole rap playlist on his Spotify? Then we should talk about it at @misssharai because I still have not recovered from this news.
