It’s no secret that horror writer and serial binger Stephen King loves this early-aughts crime thriller. He’s gone on record multiple times singing the praises of The Wire. However, he paused his tweets about his current favorite shows to give this one just a little more love.

Out of nowhere, the man who makes his money with words went to Twitter to call attention to this series. He specifically gave some flowers to the writers behind the tense thriller.

I love this Tweet because a lot of my generation might owe this show a revisit now that we’re adults. Many others might have never seen any of it all. So, shout out to Stephen King for helping raise awareness for this iconic HBO moment. Let’s dive a bit deeper into The Wire for the uninitiated.

HBO Synopsis

“In the city of Baltimore, there are good guys and there are bad guys. Sometimes you need more than a badge to tell them apart. This highly realistic and totally unvarnished drama series chronicles the vagaries of crime, law enforcement, politics, education, and media in Baltimore as it follows a team of cops and the criminals they are after.”

The Wire was created by David Simon. The stellar cast included Dominic West, Wendell Pierce, Sonja Sohn, and Deirdre Lovejoy. The cast included the late Lance Reddick and Michael Kenneth Williams as well.

The series ran for five seasons on HBO and is considered one of the best shows of its era by various critics. Watch the trailer below.
