The #1 Thriller Streaming On Max Is Mesmerizing Audiences: “I cried through the entire film”

The #1 crime/thriller on Max today is an HBOMax (newly minted as Max) original film. It’s got the internet’s blood pressure raised as it’s based on true events. The new movie everyone is talking about this week is Reality.

Max Synopsis

On June 3, 2017, 25-year-old Reality Winner returns from running errands to find two FBI agents at her home in Augusta, Georgia. An Air Force veteran and yoga instructor, Winner spends the next two hours being questioned about her work as an intelligence contractor – specifically, whether she leaked a classified document about Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. elections.

With all dialogue taken from the FBI transcript, Reality tells the tense, mesmerizing story of what transpired inside Winner’s home that afternoon. As she navigates the federal agents’ questions, Winner is revealed to be a fairly typical 20-something: She treasures her pets, loves to travel, teaches CrossFit, and shares selfies on social media.

Reality was written by Tina Satter and James Paul Dallas. It was based on Satter’s play Is This A Room. The film is directed by Tina Satter as well. It stars Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria), Josh Hamilton, and Marchánt Davis.

Many viewers praise the direction and Sweeney’s performance. Others are upset that the person it’s based on got into more trouble than some politicians who have done way worse. The mother of the person the film is based on also weighed in on the production.
