Twitter Is Calling The #1 Horror Movie On Prime Video “100% escapist entertaining nonsense”
Things are warming up outside so many of us are ready to stay in and watch movies where people are terrorized in water. This might be why the #1 horror movie on Prime Video is The Meg.
In the movie, a group of scientists exploring the Marianas Trench encounters the largest marine predator that has ever existed – the Megalodon.
The Meg was directed by Jon Turteltaub. The film itself is based on the book Meg written by Steve Alten. It was adapted for the screen by Dean Georgaris, Jon Hoeber, and Erich Hoeber. The movie stars Jason Statham, Bingbing Li, Rainn Wilson, and Winston Chao.

Most people are enjoying this “escapist entertainment.” Others are living for Jason Statham entering his shark era. However, many fans are just happy to rewatch it as they wait for the sequel to drop later this year.

Meg 2: The Trench swims into theaters on August 4th. It is also based on a book from the series and will see the return of Jason Statham. However, this time Ben Wheatley directs the ship.
If you somehow missed the first installment of this massive shark franchise, you can check out the trailer below. Then head to Prime Video to see the full adventure.

If you’ve already seen the movie on Prime Video and want more of the world, you’re in luck. Not only does the sequel drop later this year, but Steve Alten has eight books and a graphic novel following this prehistoric shark. That’s a whole lot of reasons to never go into the water, if you ask me.
