In his feature film debut LandLocked, director Paul Owens used old home videos of his childhood to create a horror movie about the sadness and fear around going home as an adult. Part found footage, part mumblegore, Owens’ film is quiet, with something sinister bubbling under the surface. It’s another beautiful piece of liminal horror, which seems to be defining 2023.

Dread Central spoke with Owens about the catharsis he found making LandLocked, going home, and more.
