Watch The Unsettling Trailer For ‘Huesera: The Bone Woman’ [Watch]

Festival favorite Huesera: The Bone Woman is coming to VOD. It lands on February 16th on the usual suspects. The XYZ Films project has been on most of our radars all year. So we are celebrating that we will finally be able to see it so early in the new year.

Huesera: The Bone Woman is described as:

The supernatural Mexican horror feature is led by Natalia Solián (Zapatos Rojos) in a star-turning performance as Valeria, a young woman expecting her first child who becomes cursed by a sinister entity. Plunged into a terrifying and dangerous world, a group of witches emerge as her only hope for safety and salvation, but not without grave risk. The film also stars Alfonso Dosal (Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico), Mayra Batalla (Prayers For The Stolen), Mercedes Hernández (Identifying Features), Aída López (Capadocia), and Martha Claudia Moreno.

Michelle Garza Cervera directed Huesera: The Bone Woman. Garza Cervera and Abia Castillo co-wrote the script.

Huesera: The Bone Woman (formerly Huesera) premiered at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival in the festival’s genre-driven Midnight section. It would go on to win both the Best New Narrative Director and Nora Ephron awards. Following the world premiere, Huesera: The Bone Woman won both the Blood Window Award for Best Feature Film and the Citizen Kane Award for Best Directorial Revelation at the internationally recognized Sitges Film Festival in Spain and the Feature Film Audience Award at the Morelia International Film Festival.

In his review, Dread Central’s own Chad Collins wrote:

The best horror reflects the human condition. It grapples with the quotidian, unremarkable feats of daily life and renders them monstrous. Buckets of blood, fractured bones, and perennial hauntings give way to profound insight into what it means to simply exist. Michelle Garza Cervera’s Huesera is a heartrending, painful account of new motherhood.

I have had my eye on this movie since I missed it at Tribeca Film Festival. I cannot wait to inject it into my eyeballs the second it becomes available. Have you been waiting for a chance to watch Huesera too? Then let’s celebrate together at @misssharai.
