Missing

Just when you thought you’ve seen it all when it comes to serial killer films, rising Japanese director Shinzô Katayama kicks down the door to surprise you. In his latest film Missing, Katayama constructs a unique tale about death, revenge, and the lengths we’ll go to protect our own. And with the Blu-ray release just next week, we got an exclusive look at a deleted scene from the film.

Read the full synopsis below:

Depressed and in debt following the death of his wife, Santoshi (Jiro Sato) tells his young daughter he has found a way out. Pointing to a reward note, he vows to find the infamous serial killer “No Name” (Hiroya Shimizu) and cash in, claiming to have seen the man in the flesh a few days earlier. Kaeda (Aoi Ito) cannot take her aloof father seriously. But when he goes missing without a trace, she starts to fear the worst—and must begin looking for him.

Now, check out our exclusive deleted scene from the film:

Before becoming a director, Katayama previously worked with director Bong Joon-ho (Parasite) on as an assistant director on Bong’s 2009 film Mother.

Aoi Ito, Hiroya Shimizu, Misato Morita, and Jirô Satô star in the film.

Missing is now available on digital and VOD, with a Blu-ray release on December 6, 2022.
