Stephen King Is Calling This Violent Ron Perlman Film On Hulu A “Bloodthirsty little thriller”
If you follow celebrated horror author Stephen King on Twitter, you know he’s keen to speak his mind about almost anything. Sometimes that involves trolling Elon Musk. Other times it means sharing film and television recommendations that left a lasting impression on the prolific writer.
In a recent tweet, the beloved author calls the neo-western film The Last Victim “a bloodthirsty thriller” and praises Ali Larter of the Final Destination franchise as being “in overdrive”. See his full thoughts below.
The Last Victim follows small-town Sheriff Herman Hickey (Ron Perlman) as he grapples with what is likely the most harrowing case of his career. The case in question finds the lawman up against a violent gang of outlaws with deadly designs.
Ali Larter plays Susan Orden, an anthropologist. When she and her husband witness the very gang Sheriff Hickey is pursuing partaking in criminal misconduct, the pair learn just how vicious the loathsome group of outlaws can be and find themselves in a desperate fight for survival.
Naveen A. Chathapuram directs this neo-western from a screenplay penned by Ashley James Louis. This effort marks Chathapuram’s directorial debut and Louis’ first produced screenplay.

While master of the macabre Stephen King has established himself as a fan of The Last Victim, the critical consensus isn’t quite as positive.
With 15 reviews on the aggregate rating site Rotten Tomatoes, the picture stands at a 27% ‘fresh’ score from critics and an audience approval rating of 39%. But the critical consensus isn’t the final word on what to watch. And I, for one, will gladly take any suggestion Stephen King has to offer.
