9 of the Best Horror Movies Streaming on Prime, According to TikTok

One positive about the streaming age of movie-watching (ok, there’s more than one) is the discovery of some under seen or potentially forgotten about genre films. These titles receive a second life when they’re discovered on the digital carousel by horror fans and, yes, even TikTok personalities.

The emergence of TikTok has resulted in a surprisingly fantastic resource for horror fans looking for some curated recommendations. A lot of times, it feels like a knowledgeable friend is just sharing their personal faves with you. (Randy Meeks (Jamie Kennedy) from Scream would have a massive following, for sure.)

One user, TheDisturbingDissector, just provided a good mix of ones you’ve seen and some you’ve missed that is worth a share. These are the recommendations she found that you can watch right now on Amazon Prime.

Here are the top nine TikTok fan favorites streaming on Prime:

  1. The Collector
  2. The Innkeepers
  3. Saint Maud
  4. A Cure For Wellness
  5. Incident in a Ghostland
  6. Emile
  7. Triangle
  8. [Rec]
  9. Breeder

Here are our picks from TheDisturbingDissector list, including a couple titles that may have flown under my personal radar.

The Collector

Marcus Dunston directed this horror equivalent of Home Alone featuring a killer known as The Collector that designs a veritable house of horrors for randos that make the mistake of crossing the threshold. It spawned an even more vicious sequel, The Collection, and a legion of fans. There were even hopes at one point that The Collector would have a crossover event with another masked killer, Chromeskull from Laid to Rest. Sadly, those hopes were dashed when Laid to Rest director and makeup artist Robert Hall passed away tragically.

The Innkeepers

DO NOT call this a “slow burn” horror movie, please. Ti West’s spooky ghost hunting story inside a haunted hotel is a masterclass in tension and release. With the ample help from actors Pat Healy and Sara Paxton, Ti West (X, Pearl) crafts the perfect horror comedy that should be considered a classic genre piece from the early 2010’s. An honorable mention goes to Kelly McGillis has the hotel’s only guest that proves more formidable than the actual ghosts.

Incident in a Ghostland

Pascal Laugier’s twist on a home invasion movie focuses on a mother and her two teenage daughters that travel to their Aunt’s home after receiving a sizable inheritance from the recently deceased. They suddenly find themselves stalked by two intruders in a candy truck that are obsessed with dolls.

They survive a brutal attack, and Beth (Crystal Reed), now a successful horror fiction writer, chronicles the experience in a bestselling novel called (you guessed it) Incident in a Ghostland. What follows sounds like a head trip involving mass delusions and uncertain futures. (I have yet to see this so I’m adding it to the list. Thanks TikTok!)

Breeder

Full disclosure: I haven’t seen Breeder either. But I do feel compelled to give out a trigger warning for this one because it sounds like it could be a little brutal and overly abusive. Coming out of Denmark, Breeder sounds like a modern mashup of Frankenstein and the mad scientist Nazi trope. Young, fertile women are apparently abducted for experiments referred to as “bio-hacking,” a term that resonates immediately and sound like something that could be a good springboard for a fresh take on familiar subject matter.
