Night Creeps, Monstroween, and Cave Bears! [Giallo Julian’s Indie Shoutout]

Halloween

Happy Halloween, Blood Babes! I know it’s a bit early, but to be fair, I celebrate the holiday all month long. OK, fine, all YEAR long, but that’s neither here nor there. What is here and there is this latest edition of Giallo Julian’s Indie Shoutout! So grab your Boo Buckets, ghosts and ghouls, because I have some treats for you. Let’s get started!

SHOUTOUTS:

Pitch Black Manor (Music)

Quad-cities-based horror band Pitch Black Manor is hitting the stage for the first time since 1995! Right at the Rozz-Tox in Rock Island, IL. Just last year, I featured their album Night Creeps, which you can check out here. Tickets will be $15 at the door, but only $10 online, so I say it’d be a good idea to buy ahead and save some cash for merch! You can find more info about the show here and buy tickets here.

Alyanna Poe (Blog)

Halloween

Horror author Alyanna Poe is promoting fellow indie-horror writers on her blog, just in time for the spooky season! From novels that are a perfect fit for Halloween to zombie books that’ll surely eat at you, Poe has you covered. Discover some new favorites on her lists here!

Monstroween (Art)

Join artist David Hartman in making some monster art this Halloween month with a new, off-the-wall prompt each day! Toxic Ghouls of Neptune, Tarantula-La-Las, The Wolfman’s Wolf Van; all that and much, much more! Get in on the fun and be sure to tag your drawing on Instagram to #hartmanmonstroween for all to see! For more info, check out here!

Locked In (Feature Film)

Featured in one of my previous Indie Spotlights, director Chase Dudley’s latest film Locked In has a brand-new trailer! Not only that, but it has a premiere date set, with two showings at Baxter Avenue Theaters Filmworks. Check out the trailer here and get more info on the premiere here!

Things Forsaken ® (YouTube Channel)

A new episode of Ferenc Gregor’s YouTube series Things Forsaken — a show where artisans craft works while in character of macabre and creepy stories — has been posted to his channel! Check it out here!

All Your Friends Are Dead (Feature Film)

After several of Matt Willbee’s friends show up at an old camping ground just in time to stop him from ending his life, a deranged killer starts picking them off one-by-one in Ricky Glore’s All Your Friends Are Dead. The film’s crew is currently looking for distribution. Check out the trailer here!

Profondo Delle Tenebre (Music)

Joshua A. Pfeiffer’s band Profondo Delle Tenebre just released a remastered version of their album, Exoterica! If any of that sounds familiar, it’s because I talked about my love for the album last year. Check out the newly remastered songs right here!

Jesterpus (Feature Film)

Described as a “musical comedy/horror” flick, Dan Bringhurst’s Jesterpus tells of a supernatural clown — banished to Mars by Merlin — who returns to Earth to seek murderous revenge against the Arthurian wizard. Featuring “nine original musical numbers, a cameo by Llyod Kaufman, and practical effects by Cragun Clayburn”, the film is expected to wrap production by the end of the year. Check out the trailer here.

Thank you to all the creators that shared their work with me! Have a safe and fun Halloween, and tune in next time for more tricks and treats from the indie-horror neighborhood!

Until next time…
