Starz has opened up the promo floodgates for “Da Vinci’s Demons,” and we have a couple of behind-the-scenes videos (one with series creator David Goyer) as well as a sneak peek of Episode 1.03, “The Prisoner.”
The series stars Tom Riley as a 25-year-old Leonardo da Vinci on the cusp of greatness, with intellect and talents that are almost superhuman; Laura Haddock as Lucrezia Donati, a celebrated beauty with obscure motives; Elliot Cowan as the shrewd de facto ruler of Florence, Lorenzo Medici; Lara Pulver as his wife, Clarice Orsini; and Blake Ritson as Pope Sixtus’ ruthless bastard son, Count Riario. David S. Goyer served as showrunner.
“Da Vinci’s Demons” airs Friday nights at 9pm ET/PT on Starz.
In the first BTS look Goyer talks about his inspiration behind the series, and in the second the executive producers and actors describe the fantastical world to be found on the show.
Episode 1.03 – “The Prisoner” (4/26/13 air date):
Riario (Blake Ritson) discusses his defeat with the Pope (James Faulkner) and a mysterious prisoner. An outbreak of demonic possession at a convent is blamed on the Medicis, but Leonardo (Tom Riley) searches for a rational explanation.
In the first clip Clarice (Lara Pulver) and Lucrezia (Laura Haddock) talk about Lorenzo (Elliot Cowan), and in the second Riario (Blake Ritson) and the Pope (James Faulkner) discuss Florence.
