This Classic Jennifer Lopez Horror Movie Is Streaming On Netflix

Jennifer Lopez wed Ben Affleck and us celeb obsessives here at Dread Central are very excited. If you don’t know anything about their 20-year romantic saga, don’t worry, we aren’t here to explain it to you. What we are here to explain is that because of their marriage, we’ve been on a J.Lo movie kick, especially her genre work. And, thankfully, one of her iconic horror films is streaming now on Netflix.

Not it’s not The Cell. It’s the 1997 creature feature Anaconda, one of her earlier acting roles. In the film, Lopez stars as director Terri Flores who travels to the Amazon to make a documentary about a long-lost Indigenous tribe. With her is her crew and boyfriend, and they come across a man stuck on a riverbank. He promises he can take them to the tribe. But what he doesn’t reveal is he’s hunting a massive, monstrous anaconda lurking in the water. He thinks he can catch it. But his plan goes horribly wrong (of course).

Jon Voight, Ice Cube, Owen Wilson, Eric Stoltz, Jonathan Hyde, Kari Wuhrer, Vincent Castellanos, and Danny Trejo star alongside J.Lo in Anaconda. Yes, it is a stacked 90s cast that even Roger Ebert recognized. In his 3.5 star (out of 4) review, Ebert said, “[Anaconda is a] slick, scary, funny Creature Feature, beautifully photographed and splendidly acted in high adventure style”. With his seal of approval, you know it’s worth checking out.

There are four sequels to the original film: Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid (2004), Anaconda 3: Offspring (2008), Anacondas: Trail of Blood (2009), and Lake Placid vs. Anaconda (2015). None of them star any of the original’s incredible cast. They also don’t hit as hard as Anaconda (in our humble opinion).

So, whether you’re celebrating Jennifer Lopez’s happiness or just want an entertaining creature feature, then head straight to Netflix and pop on Anaconda. Let us know if you’re watching @DreadCentral on Twitter.
