Here are the details on La Herencia Valdemar and La Sombra Prohibida: Shot as one huge Lovecraftian epic by director José Luis Alemán, The Valdemar Legacy and The Forbidden Shadow are big-budget love letters to the world of H.P. Lovecraft, containing everything from the Necronomicon and a family curse to Aleister Crowely, H.P. Lovecraft (as a character in the film), and even Great Cthulhu himself. This is also the last screen appearance of genre great Paul Naschy.
La Herencia Valdemar Synopsis:
Luisa Llorente, an expert on taxation of old buildings, had recently gone to the Victorian mansion Valdemar to conduct an inventory of property ownership. After she mysteriously disappeared, Maximilian, president of her company, engaged the services of a private detective to help find her. But soon they will discover that it is not the first disappearance at Valdemar mansion!
La Sombra Prohibida Synopsis:
The disappearance of Luisa Llorente and the Curse of the Valdemars have become the events that will cause the fates of an eclectic group of people to cross and become entangled with the goals of a shadowy cult of fanatics who seek to unleash on Earth that “Which Sleeps Eternal”… Cthulhu, most evil of the Great Old Ones. At last all will be revealed as the fragile veil between reality and the beyond is torn asunder by foolish mortals. Some will live… some will die… when they are forced to look upon “The Forbidden Shadow.”
This is a not-to-be-missed event for fans of all things Lovecraftian. For ticket information visit the official H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival and CthulhuCon website, and if you plan to attend, be sure to RSVP on the Facebook event page.
