Rob Zombie’s ‘The Munsters’ Teaser Trailer Is Finally Here! [Watch]

The Munsters

After months of anticipation, the first teaser trailer for The Munsters has finally arrived. Rob Zombie posted the clip to Instagram this morning, and while it’s short, it’s certainly piqued our interests. The teaser features the three previously announced leads: Sherri Moon Zombie, Dan Roebuck and Jeff Daniel Phillips as Lily Munsters, Grandpa Munster, and Herman Munster respectively.

The format for The Munsters teaser trailer is nearly identical to the original sitcom’s opening credits. From Herman breaking through the door to Sam Dracula in his klutzy glory, this clip is serving OG Munsters realness. We are also given a glimpse of the cast in color at the very end, so make sure to watch the full thing to see how the crew transitions into the new century. Another interesting fact: we learn from this trailer is that the film is now definitely confirmed to be coming out later this year.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Rob Zombie said: “I knew that if I went in and demanded ‘This movie’s going to be in black and white or forget it!’ we would not be talking about the Munsters right now, because it would have never happened. I guaran-f—ing-tee it. But what I did do is I made the colors sort of hyper-real. I noticed when the actors were in their makeup and they were just walking around, getting lunch or whatever, they looked like cartoon characters come to life. They were just so insanely colorful. I was like, I have to light the movie in the same fashion. It really seemed at all times like a live action cartoon, which was really exciting.”

Could we be seeing a Halloween release? Only time will tell. What are you waiting for…

The original cast of The Munsters featured Fred Gwynne, Yvonne de Carlo, Beverly Owen, Butch Patrick, and Al Lewis as Grandpa Munster. Together, the group played the average nuclear American family. But twist—they were a clan of monsters!

Lastly, there’s still no word if The Munsters will head to theaters, or if it’ll be exclusive through a streamer (like Netflix) sometime later this year.
