In celebration of the upcoming release of Dead Island Riptide, Deep Silver held a contest to award one lucky couple the undead wedding of their dreams. The winners have been revealed and they are about to head out onto a zombie-style beach wedding with a Caribbean honeymoon to follow.
From the Press Release
Deep Silver today revealed the identity of the real-life couple who will be joined in undead matrimony at a legally recognized zombie-themed wedding in London on 23rd April 2013, celebrating the launch of new zombie videogame Dead Island Riptide.
The search to find two engaged Dead Island superfans, who were willing to be zombified for a legally-binding wedding, began in January and the ceremony will be the centerpiece of the celebrations for the launch of Dead Island Riptide on 26th April. After being inundated with video applications, Deep Silver has selected Jennifer Jones, 27, and Rob Blackmore, 31, whose application, genuine love for each other, and enthusiasm for the Dead Island franchise made them the ideal undead couple.
On hearing that they had won, Jennifer commented: “We’re thrilled to have been chosen to be the official zombie bride and groom for Dead Island Riptide! We’re big fans of Dead Island and the horror genre, and a zombie wedding is a dream come true for us. Thanks Deep Silver & Koch Media!”
As well as hosting a zombie-style beach wedding, Deep Silver will also be sending the undead couple off on a Caribbean honeymoon.
The nuptials will take place on 23rd April 2013 at One Mayfair in London, and being a thoroughly legitimate wedding, it will include all of the traditional trappings of a ceremony… but with a Dead Island spin. The bride will arrive for the ceremony in the specially customized Dead Island Riptide pickup truck, where the couple will make their everlasting vows to one another. The ceremony will be followed by speeches and a first dance, with music provided by an undead mariachi band.

About Dead Island Riptide
With invigorating new elements infused into a proven mix, Dead Island Riptide will reanimate the zombie terror in the original game. A monsoon has hit the once beautiful archipelago and heavy rainstorms have laid waste to large areas of the islands. The city of Henderson and jungle areas on the island of Palanai were flooded leaving boats as the only remaining way of transportation. Dynamic weather conditions will force the team members to adapt to changing visibility conditions.
A fifth character will join the team, with an all-new and unique skillset. The combined skills of the group will be sorely needed, since terrible, new and unknown zombie mutations have emerged all over the island.
In a new hub defense missions the co-op teamplay skills of the survivors will be tested to the limit – they need to strategically place traps, fences and turrets to fend off oncoming Zombie onslaughts and to protect the humans in these sanctuaries.
New communication features in co-op mode also allow players to enjoy an even more intense and strategic teamplay experience.
Dead Island Riptide will be released on April 23, 2013 in the USA and Canada and on April 26, 2013 in European countries for the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, for the Xbox 360 and for Windows PC.
