Ben Wheatley and Sam Raimi Head to the Small ScreenSome pretty interesting news is coming in from TV land as two of the horror genre’s best are entering the small screen arena with new projects. The only problem? Neither of them is horror related. Read on if you’re curious.

Deadline reports that Sam Raimi is making the jump to the small screen for Fox by directing an hour long TV pilot called “Rake” starring Greg Kinnear. In addition to directing, Raimi will serve as an executive producer on the pilot alongside original series creator Peter Duncan, Peter Tolan, Michael Wimer, Richard Roxburgh and Ian Collie. Kinnear is co-executive producing. Based on the Australian comedic drama, “Rake” follows the chaotic and comedic life of criminal defense lawyer Keegan Joye (Kinnear), brilliant, frustratingly charming, and with zero filter.

On the other side of the coin, THR is reporting that Kill List and Sightseers director Ben Wheatley will write, executive produce and direct the original HBO drama “Silk Road,” which is said to be in the vein of “The Prisoner.” Details are under wraps, but we can tell you that “Silk Road” is the name of an online black market, where the majority of products qualify as contraband in most jurisdictions.

The latter may dabble within the genre so we’ll keep an eye on its progress for you and report back if need be.
