This Guy Won the ‘Halloween Kills’ Contest and Now You Can Watch Michael Myers Mangle Him

'Halloween Kills'

A few weeks ago, we learned that Universal Pictures was asking Halloween fans to show judges their best on-camera scream for a chance to star as the victim in their very own Michael Myers kill scene. Now, with Halloween Kills in theaters, the winner of that ridiculous contest has been revealed.

The superfan with a death wish is Mark Murtha—a Pickerington, Ohio native who started making Halloween-inspired videos with his friends at nine years old. In his TikTok submission video, Murtha flexes a bit with a tour of his admittedly impressive Halloween collection and proclaims, “I watch Halloween on the best days of my life and it gets me through my worst days.”

As soon as this guy won the #FacetheShape contest, he and his girlfriend hopped on a plane to Los Angeles and went straight to the Universal Studios backlot to film the defining moment of his life: screaming “Help me!,” getting trapped under a blanket, and uttering a variety of grunts before being merked into oblivion.

Watch The Shape, played by Jamie Avera, end him here:

Imagine how insufferable he’ll be when he starts making the case to his friends that his death scene is “canon.” The kill itself is serviceable enough, though, with some effectively mounted claustrophobia and a satisfying head squash to finish the job. Mark mentions in his video that Halloween made him want to be a filmmaker, so hopefully he learned a thing or two while he was on set.

Somewhere in between all this, the couple also met Halloween Kills stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Judy Greer and caught an early screening of the movie.

If you’re reading this, Mark, let us know if you’re still wearing that flannel and those khakis. (And since the answer’s yes, tell us how bad they smell.) For real, though—congrats, and we hope to see you directing scenes like this of your own one day.
