EFM 2013: The Shout! Factory Casts Some Dead Shadows

There’s great news coming out of Berlin! We’ve been waiting to sink our claws into David Cholewa’s Dead Shadows since 2011, and now finally the Lovecraftian film has itself a true home to scream about! Yes, today is a good day!

Shout! Factory, a leading multi-platform entertainment company, has acquired from DC MEDIAS the U.S and Canadian distribution rights to popular French horror action thriller DEAD SHADOWS, produced and directed by David Cholewa. The announcement was made by Shout! Factory’s founders Richard Foos, Bob Emmer, and Garson Foos; filmmaker David Cholewa; and DC MEDIAS.
In this deal Shout! Factory secured extensive rights to DEAD SHADOWS, including home entertainment, digital, and broadcast for cross-platform releases. Shout! Factory plans a strategic rollout of the film on all packaged media, electronic-sell-through (EST), video-on-demand (VOD), subscription video-on-demand (SVOD), and television. DEAD SHADOWS is set to hit the U.S and Canadian home entertainment marketplace and a variety of digital entertainment platforms later this year.
“This highly entertaining feature is a perfect addition to our ever-growing horror and world cinema library; and we look forward to present this film to movie fans and reach new audiences through a variety of distribution platforms,” stated Shout! Factory’s founders in a joint statement.
DEAD SHADOWS, Cholewa’s first feature film, tells the terrifying story about a young man, Chris, whose parents were brutally killed 11 years ago on the same day that Halley’s comet could be seen from earth. Tonight a new comet is going to appear, and everyone in his building is getting ready for a party to celebrate the event. There’s even an apocalypse theory going around. As night falls, Chris starts to discover that people are acting strange – and it seems to somehow be connected to the comet. People are becoming disoriented and violent, and it doesn’t take long before they start mutating into something from beyond this world. In a fight for survival, Chris has to try to escape from his building with the help from some other tenants – but will they make it out alive?
