The ‘Alien’ Television Series Won’t Premiere Until At Least 2023
It was last year when we first got wind about Disney/FX’s plan to take the Alien franchise to the small screen.
The good news got better when it was announced that Noah Hawley (TV’s Fargo and Legion) was the one developing the series. Not only that, but the network also teased fans that Alien was finally landing on Earth, just as we were promised back in 1992…
The bad news? That’s basically all we knew. Until now.
FX chairman John Landgraf made some interesting comments about the Alien timeline during a live event, as reported by Deadline. The news was minimal, but at least Landgraf has a year in mind.
So, when are we finally going to see Alien land on earth? Not until 2023, at the earliest. Landgraf made no promises when it came to a release date, as his team seem determined to take their time shaping the all-new Hulu series into something special.
“I have optimism that that show may well roll out in 2023,” said the FX boss during the live event. “It will probably roll out 2023 but we want to get it right.”
Landgraf also noted:
I think you’ll also see that the show will feel like a part of the cinematic universe you’re familiar with in terms of Alien … I think you’ll also see that the show will feel like a part of the cinematic universe you’re familiar with in terms of Alien.
Last year FX made the following cryptic comment about the series, saying: “Expect a scary thrill ride set not too far in the future here on Earth.”
Noah Hawley has also commented that the series will likely not revolve around the character of Ellen Ripley. (Sigh.) Ridley Scott is expected to produce the series.
