To commemorate the film’s release, producers have released another nerve-shredding clip from The Boy Behind the Door! Check it out below the trailer and synopsis!
Synopsis:
In The Boy Behind the Door, a night of unimaginable terror awaits twelve-year-old Bobby (Lonnie Chavis) and his best friend, Kevin (Ezra Dewey). They are abducted on their way home from school. Managing to escape his confines, Bobby navigates the dark halls, praying his presence goes unnoticed as he avoids his captor at every turn. Even worse is the arrival of another stranger, whose mysterious arrangement with the kidnapper may spell certain doom for Kevin. They have no means of calling for help and miles of dark country in every direction. So Bobby embarks on a rescue mission, determined to get himself and Kevin out alive… or die trying.
David Charbonier and Justin Powell are life-long friends and two up-and-coming directors in the horror space.
They recently completed their feature film debut, The Boy Behind the Door, which had its world premiere at the 2020 edition of Fantastic Fest and also screened at AFI Fest, during which it was able to garner its current score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Hollywood Reporter called The Boy Behind the Door “a delicate and memorably successful balancing act that effectively contextualizes some deliberately challenging material” while Bloody Disgusting called it “unrelentingly intense” and “shockingly dark,” noting that “Charbonier and Powell created one impressively ballsy debut.”
The Boy Behind the Door stars Lonnie Chavis (This is Us), Ezra Dewey (The Djinn), and Kristin Bauer Van Straten (True Blood).

Quote from Directors:
We made this film as a testament to the spirit of independent filmmaking. Our story is framed in horror, but we hope that its themes of strength and survival will encourage children and adults alike to love themselves despite their perceived shortcomings.
