WATCH: First Trailer For ARMY OF THIEVES Cracks the Code
Before the dead inherit the earth we’ll be seeing some high-octane heist action. From producer Zack Snyder and the team behind Army of the Dead comes the first trailer for Army of Thieves, a Dieter-focused spin-off to the hugely popular zombie outing.
In this prequel to Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, small-town bank teller Dieter (Matthias Schweighöfer) gets drawn into the adventure of a lifetime when a mysterious woman recruits him to join a crew of Interpol’s most wanted criminals, attempting to heist a sequence of legendary, impossible-to-crack safes across Europe.

The all-new film hails from the star himself, Matthias Schweighöfer. Matthias was the secret weapon from Army of the Dead, folding in some much-needed levity into the film’s relentless action. Matthias Schweighöfer’s Dieter manages to maintain humour and a healthy level of adorability in the first film, so we’re sure he can bring that same magnetism back for this second round.
The first teaser poster for Army of Thieves promised “more safes, less zombies” and this new trailer seems to be making good.
If you were hoping for a more traditional horror-action adventure like the Army of the Dead, you’re in luck. Army of the Dead 2 is en route. However, it may be a little while before that film sees release. Snyder will be helming the Sci-Fi epic Rebel Moon for Netflix before returning to his homegrow horde of zombies.
Zack and wife Deborah Snyder have signed an overall deal with Netflix, which funded their massive blockbuster Army of the Dead earlier this year. This means we will see a whole lot more gory content from the duo before their contract is up.
Army of Thieves is written by Shay Hatten, the co-writer behind Army of the Dead. It’s produced by Zack and Deborah Snyder, and co-stars Nathalie Emmanuel, Ruby O. Fee, Stuart Martin, Guz Khan, Jonathan Cohen!
Army of Thieves will hit Netflix Fall 2021.
