Four New Actors to Board LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER
David Dastmalchian isn’t a name you hear thrown around a lot. That’s about to change. He’ll be starring in this summer’s The Suicide Squad, for starters. After that, you’ll be able to see him in Last Voyage of the Demeter. He’s joined the cast, along with Liam Cunningham. Also announced are Aisling Fanciosi, and just my favorite: Javier Botet.

Last Voyage of the Demeter tells the tale of The Demeter. For those not in the know, The Demeter was the ship in Bram Stoker’s Dracula that ferried the ghoul from Transylvania to London. Spoilers for an almost 200-year-old book: No one except Dracula makes it to London. The film will cover the events on The Demeter during its ill-fated journey.
Dastmalchian will be playing Wojcheck, the ship’s first mate. Cunningham will be the doomed ship’s captain. Franciosi will play Anna, a stowaway on this absolutely screwed ship. But what of Botet? Well, he’s playing Dracula. If you need a shorthand for how Dracula will look in Last Voyage of The Demeter, just remember that Botet has probably played all of your nightmares. Standing at 6 foot seven and weighing probably 100 lbs, he has a knack for playing spindly, strangely moving characters.
Last Voyage of The Demeter has been in talks since at least 2002. The script, written by Bragi Schut (Escape Room) is finally getting its day in the sun – figuratively, because Dracula can’t stand the sun – from director Andre Ovredal. You might Remember Ovredal as the director of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. He’s got chops for unsettling horror. Let’s see how he handles Dracula on a boat.
