New Trailer Drops for Giant Fly Buddy Comedy MANDIBLES

still from Mandibles

Mandibles is probably the weirdest thing I’ve seen fly through my inbox in a while. We’ve got a trailer for you below, and we’ll get to that. I like a bizarro creature comedy. That’s kind of what you’re getting when you sign up for Mandibles. Filmmaker Quentin Dupieux has seemingly created a whole new vision of pure weirdness. It releases on the same day as Blood Red Sky. So after you take in some vampire horror, maybe settle down with some buddy/creature comedy.

Synopsis:
When simple-minded friends Jean-Gab and Manu find a giant fly trapped in the boot of a car, they decide to train it in the hope of making a ton of cash.

It’s a simple premise, but I think it has legs. Lots of legs. Like a fly. Get it? Flies have lots of legs. Oh, we have fun don’t we? Once again, Mandibles is out July 23rd everywhere. You might remember Dupieux from another oft-referenced example of gonzo comedy, Rubber. The movie where a sentient tire went around the desert blowing up people’s heads. It’s a good time.

Dupieux is also known for 2019’s Deerskin. In Deerskin, a man falls deeper and deeper into a spiral of madness and crime in service of his cool new deerskin jacket. Dupieux has a certain style and he keeps to it. Insane plots backed by strong performances are his bread and butter. Gregoire Ludig, star of the film, is a relative unknown outside of his native France. There, he’s starred in quite a few films.

Are you excited for Mandibles? I think I’d watch a giant fly comedy. Join the conversation in the comments and on Instagram and Twitter @DreadCentral. Also, we’re on Facebook. I’m Jans. I write news. You can tell me if you’d hang out with a giant fly on Twitter @HorrorPlayed.
