Since 2009’s Zombieland, we’ve been hoping Emma Stone would return to the horror genre, and if her negotiations with Legendary Pictures for Guillermo del Toro’s haunted house chiller Crimson Peak prove fruitful, we’ll get our wish. It just might take a while.
Per Variety, the film won’t begin shooting until February, 2014, but with del Toro directing, we figure it’ll be worth the wait. Plot details are being kept under wraps as del Toro and Lucinda Coxon rewrite the original script penned by del Toro and Matthew Robbins. Del Toro previously described the film as “a very set-oriented, classical but at the same time modern take on the ghost story. It will allow me to play with the conventions of the genre I know and love and at the same time subvert the old rules.”
Legendary will produce and be a participating financing partner on the movie, with Universal Pictures retaining an option to finance at a later date.
Look for more hopefully soon!
