What happened in Miami this last week was- is, a tragedy. I will not be taking my usual news route of pithy one-liners and snarky commentary. Instead, I’d like to share with you a statement from the organizers of the Popcorn Frights Film Festival. They have recently announced that a portion of in-person and digital badge sales will go to help those impacted by this tragedy.

All of us at Popcorn Frights are shocked and profoundly saddened by the collapse of the Champlain
Towers in Surfside, FL. On behalf of everyone at the Festival, we want to convey not only our thoughts
and prayers, but also our willingness to assist in any way our community might need in the coming daysand weeks. In challenging times like these, our South Florida community supports each other, and we really are one extended family. We know that every dollar counts and can help save lives, so we felt it
was our urgent responsibility to try to make a positive impact,” said Igor Shteyrenberg & Marc Ferman,
Co-Founders & Co-Directors of Popcorn Frights.

This is what the horror community does. When we can, we come together for the betterment of others. Buy your all-access badges here. Also, buy your digital passes here. Submissions to the festival are still open. You can still enter all the way through July 11th. The slate isn’t finalized yet.

I’m going to buy my digital badge. How about you? Join the conversation in the comments or on Instagram and Twitter @DreadCentral. Also, we’re on Facebook. I’m Jans. I write news. You can come talk to me on Twitter @HorrorPlayed.
