Watch “An Oral History of Sir Gawain and The Green Knight” Here!

The Green Knight drops in about a month. In preparation, you can watch “An Oral History of Sir Gawain and The Green Knight”. A24 knows that you may have not read the 14th-century epic poem that inspired The film and is here to help. You can check out the video below. I mean, honestly, we’ve all read the poem right? We’re all on board to read a poem from the 14th century, yeah? I mean, it’s obviously right up there on a list of things to do.

Synopsis:
An epic fantasy adventure based on the timeless Arthurian legend, The Green Knight tells the story of Sir Gawain (Dev Patel), King Arthur’s reckless and headstrong nephew, who embarks on a daring quest to confront the eponymous Green Knight, a gigantic emerald-skinned stranger and tester of men. Gawain contends with ghosts, giants, thieves, and schemers in what becomes a deeper journey to define his character and prove his worth in the eyes of his family and kingdom by facing the ultimate challenger.

Originally meant to release May 29th, 2020. The movie was shelved for a bit over a year due to the covid-19 epidemic. Now that things seem to be relatively quieting down, we can see The Green Knight as intended. The film is being directed by David Lowery, whose previous output skews a bit…weird. Movies like A Ghost Story and Ain’t Them Bodies Saints propel him into the realm of “I probably need to watch this” when it comes to directors.

The Green Knight is out July 30th. I’m pretty excited for some spooky fantasy shenanigans. What about you? Join the conversation in the comments.
