Trailer for ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, The Novel, Includes Unused Movie Footage

I know a thing or two about novelizations of popular media. Harper Perennial will be publishing Quentin Tarantino’s novelization of his 2019 hit Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book by Quentin Tarantino. If you think this may be one to skip, you might want to think twice. Tarantino recently sat down with the Pure Cinema podcast to talk about this new undertaking.

In the movie, Cliff is a real enigma, you’re kind of like, what’s this guy’s deal? And one of the things in the books is, there’s these isolated chapters that tell you, like, this whole chapter will be about Cliff’s past. It goes back in time to tell you about Cliff at this point in time. And then you go further on with the normal run of the story and there’s another chapter that goes back in time and tells you about Cliff’s past. And every isolated chapter that’s just about Cliff’s past is like a weird little pulp novel unto itself starring Cliff.”

The trailer for the book was released recently and gives us a look at some footage for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. You can check it out for yourself below.

I’m down for that. Brad Pitt’s Cliff Booth was probably my favorite part of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Providing a key character’s backstory via novel roughly 2 years after the release of the film is a bold move. I’m going to have to pick it up, just to soak up a bit more of the world that Tarantino created. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood released in 2019 to rave reviews. The story of down-and-out western star Rick Dalton as he moves through the twilight of his career with best friend and stuntman Cliff Booth.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood Still

I am excited. If you can’t tell from above. I’ll be buying a copy of the novel when it comes out June 29th. What about you? Join the conversation in the comments. We’re also on Instagram and Twitter @DreadCentral. You can tell me all about Cliff Booth on Twitter @HorrorPlayed.
