Terror, Thy Name is KAREN in Trailer for New Social Horror Movie

The name “Karen” has become shorthand for entitled white women with racist inclinations (much to the disdain, no doubt, of many decent women). Karen is also the name of a new social horror movie about a particularly terrifying neighbor. Deadline recently reported that 13 Films is handling sales for the film for the Cannes virtual market.

Synopsis:
Karen Drexler (Taryn Manning), a racist white woman who makes it her personal mission to displace the new Black family that has just moved in next door to her. Community activist Malik (Cory Hardrict) and his wife Imani (Jasmine Burke) are the couple who have just moved to the Atlanta suburb, but they won’t be backing down without a fight.

Karen is written and directed by Coke Daniels and stars Taryn Manning (Orange is the New Black), Cory Hardrict, and Jasmine Burke.

“Last year during the global pandemic and civil unrest, I — like many of us — felt anger, despair and hopelessness. The overwhelming amount of support from people around the globe, who want to see change, has been such an inspiration,” Daniels told Deadline.
