GOODNIGHT MOMMY Remake Casts Twins from BIG LITTLE LIES

Naomi Watts’ upcoming remake of the cult hit Goodnight Mommy has secured some solid young talent. Cameron and Nicholas Crovetti will star in the remake. The story is a messed up one, and the original was Austria’s entry into best foreign-language film at the 2015 Academy Awards.

The story follows two brothers who arrive at their mother’s country home to discover her face covered in bandages, what she says is the result of cosmetic surgery. As her behavior grows increasingly erratic, a horrifying question takes root in the boys’ minds: what if the woman beneath the gauze isn’t their mother at all?
The Crovetti brothers had previously starred as Nicole Kidman’s kids on two seasons of the hit HBO series Big Little Lies. The part of the two sons is very important to the feel of the film, if not the most important. The role of the mother of course has gone to Naomi Watts, but she’ll need to bring the heat if the Crovetti brothers can pull off creepy like the kids from the original Goodnight Mommy.
The film is being directed by Matt Sobel. The director previously made 2015’s Take Me to the River. A tale about abuse allegations at a family reunion. He seems like the perfect choice to bring the dysfunctional family of Goodnight Mommy to the screen. I hope the absolutely dread-filled aesthetic remains on point for this remake.
