The award-winning Orange County genre film festival Horrible Imaginings is entering its twelve-year with a fundraiser to support a hybrid virtual and in-person event, new workshops, yearly programming, and more!
With the re-opening of its home at The Frida Cinema in Santa Ana, the award-winning Horrible Imaginings Film Festival is planning a triumphant return to the big screen concurrently with a virtual edition. To facilitate this lofty undertaking, they will present a massive, online 24-Hour Marathon Fundraising Extravaganza starting at 6:00 PM on Saturday, June 12th.
RSVPing virtual fest-goers can expect a full night and day of live-streamed horror marathons, exclusive podcasts, interviews, trailers, clips, gaming streams, and a whole lot more! It is free to RSVP and free to participate, but contributions will be encouraged throughout the event. All live streams will become accessible on hifilmfest.swell.gives sharply at 6 pm (PST) on Saturday (June 12th). Access to all streams will be linked from that one site, and participants will be able to quickly move from one channel to another in order to experience a wide variety of activities. The festival hopes to raise a minimum goal of $32,000 over the course of the 24-hour period. They are well on their way to raising 10% of that amount before the event has even begun.
“Our biggest hope for the weekend is to continue to meet our mission to spotlight talented artists,” said festival founder Miguel Rodriguez. “With six different channels of live-streamed entertainment happening concurrently for 24-straight hours–with free access–we hope to continue to build our community, present a variety of independent talent, and just have an inordinate amount of fun. We believe the contributions will come in proportion to the fun people are having.”
