Synopsis:
After the death of his people by the order of evil King Kath, Kylgor and his band of surviving barbarians set out to get revenge. Succeeding in their quest, with the king’s severed head in their possession, the gang flees the kingdom with enemy soldiers close behind. But before they escape, the barbarians plummet into a giant underground abyss filled with horrific creatures, dangerous terrain, and a deep darkness lurking within.

The film will be the debut feature of writer/director Mason Newton DeRushie whose short films can be found in the anthologies; Troma’s Grindsploitation 9, 60 Seconds to Live, and Horrorathon vol 2.

“My inspiration for Kylgor are films like Conan, Heavy Metal, The Dark Crystal, and Dead Alive,” says Mason. “Most, if not all puppet movies go with felt puppets and goofy comedy. I think this will have a look and feel that has never been done before, and will push the film to a more cinematic level. My goal is to make the goriest and most off-the-wall action-packed puppet movie that has ever been done.”

To date, the voice talents of Timothy Paul McCarthy (PG: Psycho GoremanThe Chamber Of Terror), Anthony Mann (Return To Frightenstein, The Abominations Of Frankenstein), and Ry Barrett (Neverlost, The Demolisher, Still the Water) have been secured with more to be announced in the coming months.

The creature effects are being handled by award-winning FX artists Jason and Jeff DeRushie who are best known for their work on BITE, Antisocial, Monster Brawl, and Hellmouth. Jason DeRushie is also serving as producer. The film also has the backing of Psycho Goreman director Steven Kostanski; “Kylgor takes me back to my days of shooting Manborg in my parent’s garage on a homemade green screen, the kind of passionate and inventive DIY filmmaking that I really love.”

Production is slated to begin September 2021, with the plans of wrapping post-production in June 2022 in order to hit the festival circuit starting September 2022.
