Horror History: TWIN PEAKS: THE RETURN Is Now 4 Years Old

On this day in horror history, the third season of Twin Peaks, also known as Twin Peaks: The Return premiered on Showtime in 2017. Developed and written by David Lynch and Mark Frost, the season is a continuation of the ABC series.

Twin Peaks: The Return consisted of 18 parts. Writer-director David Lynch says a fourth season might still be in the cards. He says: “I don’t knowIt’s too early to say that right now…I’ve learned never say never.”

Synopsis:
Directed entirely by David Lynch, the new SHOWTIME 18-part limited event series picks up 25 years after the inhabitants of a quaint northwestern town were stunned when their homecoming queen Laura Palmer was shockingly murdered.

The cast includes Kyle MacLachlan, Sheryl Lee, Sherilyn Fenn, Dana Ashbrook, Madchen Amick, Miguel Ferrer, Ray Wise, Peggy Lipton, Everett McGill, Harry Dean Stanton, and more.

Plus guest stars like Amanda Seyfried, Peter Sarsgaard, Balthazar Getty, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Laura Dern, Robert Forster, Naomi Watts, Tom Sizemore, Caleb Landry Jones, James Belushi, Ashley Judd, and Lynch himself.

The film sports a 94% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes. The Critics Consensus: Surreal, suspenseful, and visually stunning, this new Twin Peaks is an auteurist triumph for David Lynch.
