A fan over on Twitter: writes: “Back in (I think) 1991, Kenner/Hasbro allowed the Star Wars toy license to lapse. Playmates made a pitch to get it, complete with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover concepts by TMNT artist Michael Dooney. They didn’t get the license, but these are so cool!

Geeks Antiques adds over on Instagram: “The latest in the line of the proposed-yet-abandoned TMNT & Star Wars mashups is this incredible Michaelangelo as Chewbacca with obliterated Donatello as C3PO – as seen in The Empire Strikes Back As a reminder, Playmates Toys was in the running to get the Star Wars license from Lucasfilm and used some commissioned @michaeldooneyart pieces to help sell the concept. Unfortunately, these weren’t made into prototypes and it was eventually abandoned, but I wanted to see these through to fruition. So with the help of original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sculptor Scott Hensey we were able to see these finally get turned into hard copies. More to come…

That Ralph/R2D2 is fucking adorable. Not sure that I think Ralph when I think of R2D2 (or visa versa) but still, I’d buy that for a dollar!

Would you have owned these as a kid? Of course, you would have.
