Another adaptation of yet another young adult oriented novel is on its way, but the reason that this one really has our attention is the fact that Sam Raimi is producing. Read on for the first details on Angelfall.
According to THR, Good Universe and Sam Raimi are teaming to develop an adaptation of the post-apocalyptic angel-themed young adult book Angelfall. The company, Raimi, and his producing partner, Robert Tapert, have picked up movie rights to the Susan Ee-penned tome as well as the series Penryn & the End of Days, in which Angelfall is the first book. Raimi will produce with Tapert.
Angelfall was released August 28 by Amazon Children’s Publishing but previously had generated heat as a self-published e-book. It was a finalist for the 2011 Cybils award for best young adult fantasy and science fiction and was ranked No. 1 on Goodreads’ list of best independent novels.
The story is set weeks after angels of the apocalypse wreak revenge against mankind for the killing of Archangel Gabriel. When 17-year-old Penryn fails to escort her mother and wheelchair-bound sister to safety, she teams with a handsome young angel with clipped wings, braving evil seraphs, human gangs, and cannibals in a quest to find her sister.
Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane will executive produce.
