“Dissecting Horror” Now Continues April 21st with the Creatives of JAKOB’S WIFE

The next installment of the “Dissecting Horror” digital panel series will take place Wednesday, April 21st at 6 pm PST. It’s with the creative talent from Jakob’s Wife. Panelists include director/co-writer Travis Stevens and composer Tara Busch.

Plus two of the film’s stars Barbara Crampton (Annie Fedder), who also serves as a producer & Bonnie Aarons (The Master). I’ll be moderating. RLJE Films will release the film in theaters and On Demand tomorrow (April 16th, 2021). Shudder will premiere it on its platform later in the year.
Synopsis:
Anne is married to a small-town minister and feels like her life and marriage have been shrinking over the past 30 years. After a chance encounter with “The Master,” she discovers a new sense of power and an appetite to live bigger and bolder than before. As Anne is increasingly torn between her enticing new existence and her life before, the body count grows and Jakob realizes he will have to fight for the wife he took for granted.
Dissecting Horror will be streamed on Dread Central’s Facebook and also Twitch Channel. The panel will also be made available on our official YouTube channel.
Dread Central and Jordan von Netzer of Projection PR launched “Dissecting Horror” April 15th with a panel focused on horror film scores. Since then, they have produced panels spotlighting stunt coordinators, visual/special effects and the creatives behind Followed, Cruiser, 12 Hour Shift, Don’t Look Back, Hunter Hunter, Willy’s Wonderland, Wrong Turn, Dreamcatcher, Making Monsters, and Parallel.
ABOUT THE PANELISTS:
TRAVIS STEVENS (Director/Co-Writer)
Since 2010, Travis Stevens has produced a wide range of award-winning genre films that have played the Toronto International Film Festival, Cannes Director’s Fortnight, Sundance, SXSW, Telluride, Tribeca, Fantastic Fest, AFI, and other prestigious festivals.
Working with actors such as Rami Malek, Alisha Boe, Cleopatra Coleman, Kaniehtiio Horn, Alex Essoe, Lin Shaye, Matthew Gray Gubler, Kate Lyn Sheil, Pat Healy, Ethan Embry, David Koechner, DJ Qualls, Sheila Vand, and Beth Grant, each of these projects sought to expand the artistic potential of the modern genre film.
In 2019, his writing and directing debut Girl On The Third Floor premiered at SXSW to great reviews (“The best of the (Midnighters) program” RogerEbert.Com) and then traveled the world. Acclaimed for its visual design, practical effects and wicked sense of humor, it won both a Fangoria Chainsaw Award (“Best First Feature”) and Brooklyn Horror Film Festival Award (“Best Gooey Effects”) before terrifying audiences on Netflix (becoming the #2 most watched film on the streaming service and remaining in the top 10 for over a week).
His writing/directing follow-up Jakob’s Wife, stars genre legends Barbara Crampton, Larry Fessenden, and Bonnie Aarons. It premiered at SXSW earlier this year and is getting a worldwide release in Spring 2021.
Stevens has been a guest panelist at the Brussels International Co-Production Market, the Fantasia Frontiers Market, the IFTA Production Conference, the Stanley Film Fest, SXSW, Shudder Labs, and the Hollywood Black Film Festival. He’s also served as film juror for a wide variety of genre film festivals including Fantastic Fest, PiFan, Fantasia, the Stanley Film Fest, the Oldenburg International Film Festival, and the Strasbourg International Film Festival.

TARA BUSCH (Composer)
Tara Busch is an LA-based composer, vocalist, producer, and synthesist. She released her first solo album, Pilfershire Lane on NYC label Tummy Touch in 2009, and created remixes for Annie Lennox, Gazelle Twin, Bat For Lashes, iamamiwhoami & John Foxx soon after. In 2013, she co-founded the acclaimed music/ film duo I Speak Machines with filmmaker/writer Maf Lewis, and they signed to Lex Projects in London releasing two soundtracks for their short films “The Silence” and “Zombies 1985”.
In 2016, she toured as main support with electronic music legend Gary Numan on a 30-date US/CA/UK tour and played London Southbank Center all-analog synth, live score show with Imogen Heap and Mica Levi. She was also invited to perform I Speak Machine’s live film scores at Moogfest in 2011, 2013, and 2016, and at the 2016 LA-based horror film festival, Beyond Fest. In 2018, Tara scored the comedy horror short “Deep Clean” starring Game of Thrones’ Paul Kaye and After Life’s Tony Way.
Tara has just finished scoring the 2021 female-centric vampire horror feature Jakob’s Wife, starring Barbara Crampton and Larry Fessenden, directed by Travis Stevens (Girl on The Third Floor). She is also working on a full-length solo album, The Metal of My Hell with UK producer Dean Honer (Human League, Add N to X, I Monster).

BARBARA CRAMPTON (Annie Fedder)/Producer
Barbara Crampton’s career as an iconic figure in the horror/thriller genres has spanned4 decades and continues to gain momentum. Currently, she is starring in and producing the horror-thriller Jakob’s Wife with AMP Films. Barbara recently completed producing a remake of the Stuart Gordon classic Castle Freak, based on the HP Lovecraft story. Prior to that, she completed work on Sacrifice, a thriller shot in Norway. Other features due to be released include Run Hide Fight with Thomas Jane and Treat Williams. King Knight with Aubrey Plaza and Matthew Gray Gubler. And Superhost with Gracie Gillam, Sara Canning, and Osric Chau.

Earlier she starred in and produced Beyond the Gates. It won best horror feature in its debut at LA Film Fest. For television, Barbara recently guest-starred on the last season of Channel Zero: The Dream Door (Syfy). Soon after she starred in an episode of the highly acclaimed series Into the Dark: Culture Shock (Blumhouse/Hulu). Barbara will guest star on season 2 of Creepshow from Greg Nicotero premiering this Spring on Shudder. Barbara writes a column for FANGORIA magazine for which she won a “Rondo Hatton Horror Award” in 2020.
Crampton has received 5 Lifetime Achievement awards at festivals around the world for her contributions to the horror genre. Including one at Morbido in Mexico City and at the prestigious Sitges Festival, just outside Barcelona, Spain. Barbara made her screen debut on Days of Our Lives and her film debut in 1984’s Body Double. Cult classic Re-Animator, in which Barbara portrayed the leading role of Megan Halsey, continues to be a huge fan favorite. Other films Crampton has starred in include: From Beyond, Puppet Master, You’re Next, We Are Still Here, and more. She won a Soap Opera Digest award for her portrayal of Leanna Love on The Young and the Restless.
She was born in a suburb of New York City and raised in Vermont. Barbara started appearing in school plays when she was a young girl and went on to study acting in school. As her father worked for carnivals, she grew up spending summers traveling with them. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater Arts from Castleton University. Then she made a stop in New York and played Cordelia in King Lear for the American Theater of Actors. Then she moved to LA to commence her TV and film career. Barbara lives in California with her husband Bob and their two children, Luke and Olivia.
BONNIE AARONS (The Master)

Bonnie Aarons has a list of character credits that includes some highly recognizable moments in Hollywood history. She’s appeared in classics like David Lynch’s Mullholland Drive, The Princess Diaries (1 & 2), and The Fighter. Plus iconic music videos like Rihanna’s “Anti Diary” and has been the face of several national advertising campaigns. Horror fans have loved her in cult classics like, I Know Who Killed Me and Drag Me To Hell.
But then she became “Valak”, The Demon Nun from James Wan’s The Conjuring franchise. Bonnie was suddenly one of the world’s most recognizable and popular horror icons of all time. Her standalone film for Warner Brothers, The Nun, has to date grossed well over 350 million dollars. Bonnie is a proud, productive, and successful actor living with autism. And she hopes to inspire others living with autism to live their best lives. And go for their dreams the way she has!
