Shudder & RLJE Films Snag Animated Horror THE SPINE OF NIGHT
Following its premiere at SXSW on March 18th, RLJE Films, the physical distribution arm of AMC and Shudder picked up the ultraviolent retro/animated horror movie The Spine of the Night. Look for it in theaters sometime in 2021 and on Shudder in 2022.
Synopsis:
This epic begins many years ago. An ambitious young man steals forbidden knowledge from a sacred plant and, as he falls to its darker temptations, unleashes ages of suffering onto mankind. As his power grows over the years, there are many who stand against him. Among them are a daring tomb-robber, star-crossed lovers, a maniacal necromancer, winged assassins, and an undying guardian.

Philip Gelatt and Morgan Galen King directed The Spine of the Night. The film features the vocal talents of Richard E. Grant, Lucy Lawless, Patton Oswalt, Betty Gabriel, Joe Manganiello, Abby Savage, Larry Fessenden, and also Rob McClure.

“The Spine of Night is like the insane love child of Heavy Metal and Mandy,” RLJE Films chief acquisition officer Mark Ward said. “The audience response out of SXSW proves this is an instant classic that will be playing on midnight movie screens for years to come.”
