GREEN KNIGHT Actor Teases New A24 Movie is Dark & Weird & Funny

A24, the studio behind The Witch, Hereditary, and Midsommar (and more) are dropping an intense horror-fantasy flick The Green Knight soon. And today, co-star Ralph Ineson teases the flick is “dark and it’s weird, but it’s funny as well.”

Ineson tells NME: “I think you get such an atmosphere from the trailer of exactly what it’s gonna be about. It’s dark and it’s weird, but it’s funny as well. I think David Lowery is a witty director and he’s got a beautiful eye. Dev Patel is an astonishing actor. Sometimes when you’re face to face with an actor – a few days just the two of you – you really get to see how someone works and he’s amazing.”

An epic fantasy adventure based on the timeless Arthurian legend, The Green Knight tells the story of Sir Gawain (Dev Patel), King Arthur’s reckless and headstrong nephew, who embarks on a daring quest to confront the eponymous Green Knight, a gigantic emerald-skinned stranger and tester of men. Gawain contends with ghosts, giants, thieves, and schemers in what becomes a deeper journey to define his character and prove his worth in the eyes of his family and kingdom by facing the ultimate challenger. From visionary filmmaker David Lowery comes a fresh and bold spin on a classic tale from the knights of the round table.

In addition to Patel, The Green Knight stars Alicia Vikander, Joel Edgerton, and Sarita Choudhury. Plus Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Barry Keoghan, and Ralph Ineson. Rated R for violence, some sexuality, and graphic nudity, the movie will hit on July 31st.
