New TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE Sports Practical Gore FX

Producer Fede Alvarez and Legendary’s new Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie hits later this year. And today, Alvarez teases the movie sports practical gore effects.

He tells Bloody Disgusting’s The Boo Crew podcast: “Everything is a classic, old-school gags. It’s a very old-school approach to filmmaking. Vintage lenses… it’s very similar to the original film.”

Sounds good to us!

The new film is a continuation of Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic and marks the return of Leatherface, re-introducing one of the most iconic villains of the horror genre to a whole new generation. The film recently wrapped production.

Alvarez (Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe), Rodolfo Sayagues, Kim Henkel (co-writer of the 1974 film), Ian Henkel, and Pat Cassidy produce. Chris Devlin penned the script.

Golden Globe award nominee Elsie Fisher (Castle Rock) stars with Sarah Yarkin (Happy Death Day 2U), Mark Burnham (Wrong Cops), Moe Dunford (The Dig), Olwen Fouéré (Mandy), Alice Krige (Star Trek), Jacob Latimore (The Maze Runner), Nell Hudson (Victoria), Jessica Allain (The Laundromat), Sam Douglas (Snatch), William Hope (Dark Shadows), and Jolyon Coy (War & Peace).

Original directors Andy & Ryan Tohill left over creative differences a week into shooting. Garcia quickly stepped in and re-shot from scratch. Garcia hails from Texas and is an Emmy-winning director-cinematographer. His debut Tejano was shot for just $58K and hit HBO. He has also shot commercials for Verizon, Lenovo, Fisher-Price, T-Mobile, and Firestone.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is expected to rip into theaters later this year.
