LET THE RIGHT ONE IN Series in the Works at Showtime Starring Demián Bichir
Any list of the best horror movies of the 21st Century is bound to include Let the Right One In (2008), the Sweedish film directed by Tomas Alfredson and based on the 2004 novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist.
Now, there’s a series based on Let the Right One In in the works at Showtime, and Demián Bichir (The Nun, Godzilla vs Kong) has been tapped to star. Variety broke the news.
The series centers on Mark (Bichir), a father and his 12-year-old daughter, Eleanor, whose lives were changed forever 10 years earlier when she was turned into a vampire. Locked in at age 12, perhaps forever, Eleanor lives a closed-in life, able to go out only at night, while her father does his best to provide her with the minimal amount of human blood she needs to stay alive.
Andrew Hinderaker will be the showrunner; Seith Mann will executive produce and direct the pilot.
Obviously, it’ll be a while before the show materializes, but we’ll be following the production to keep you posted as additional details emerge. In the meantime, revisit the trailer and synopsis for Let the Right One In below.
When Oskar (Kåre Hedebrant), a sensitive, bullied 12-year-old boy living with his mother in suburban Sweden, meets his new neighbor, the mysterious and moody Eli (Lina Leandersson), they strike up a friendship. Initially reserved with each other, Oskar and Eli slowly form a close bond, but it soon becomes apparent that she is no ordinary young girl. Eventually, Eli shares her dark, macabre secret with Oskar, revealing her connection to a string of bloody local murders.
Let the Right One In stars Kåre Hedebrant, Lina Leandersson, and Per Ragnar. An American remake of the film, Let Me In, was released in 2010.
